A period spent working in the darkroom of Mercedes HQ, Stuttgart, awakened Olaf Hauschulz’s love of cars; he’s since made his name as an automotive photographer. In this particular set he creates a sense of cinematic theatricality that befits some of the world’s most desirable automobiles.
One thinks of Hopper, in more ways than one. You half expect Dennis Hopper, as Frank Booth in Blue Velvet, to emerge from the bushes, fresh from some bizarre bout of paraphilia; but we’re also reminded of Edward Hopper, only the figures have been replaced by cars. Still the same questions remain. What’s going on here? Who’s driving them? How did they get there? You can only imagine...
